Your voice in my head book5/31/2023 ![]() He does not suffer fools he does not gush or hug or high-five I’d estimate that he keeps at least two-thirds of what he’s thinking to himself. Ivan manages to be exacting and supportive at the same time. In my years of writing, I have learned to silence many a voice inside my head: The purse-lipped aunt who once asked, “What do YOU have to write about?” the block-buster blusterer who told me to pursue only book ideas in which “a lot of people die” the academic second-guesser who sniffed that unless you’ve “read everything” you have no business writing about it.īut Ivan’s is an internal voice I welcome. Would Ivan cringe? I ask myself – and out it goes. I cannot count the number of sentences I have deleted on the dead certainty that Ivan would judge them flabby, flaccid, fake, strained, insufficiently researched, high falutin’, or just plain cruddy. ![]() ![]() I know Ivan reads most of what I write (he’s been force fed my last three books by blurb-hungry editors and publicists), and I’m acutely aware of how high his standards are. I swear he’s standing right behind me, shaking his head and muttering unprintable things under his breath. ![]() Ivan Doig lives and writes about a mile and a half from where I live and write – but there are times, and now is one of them, when it feels like he has taken up residence in my home office. ![]()

![]() ![]() Introducing the first nine volumes of the greatest superhero comic in the universe, collected into one massive edition Includes Invincible issues 0-47. ![]() Read millions of eBooks and audiobooks on the web, iPad, iPhone and Android. The show originally debuted last March and has since been renewed for two more seasons. 1 by Robert Kirkman,Ryan Ottley,Bill Crabtree with a free trial. ![]() Kirkman described the previous comic sales as "bonuses" and not royalty payments.Ĭrabtree is asking for all outstanding royalties, punitive damages, and a judgment as co-author of Invincible. ![]() Kirkman continued to pay Crabtree for years based on the oral agreement's terms for comic sales, but when Crabtree found out about the Amazon TV deal in 2020, Kirkman said Crabtree wasn't entitled to anything from the licensing sale. Written and lettered by Robert Kirkman, illustrated and inked by Cory Walker, and colored by Bill Crabtree, the debut issue kicked off an epic ride that would take comic readers on a journey full of excitement, laughter, heartbreak, tragedy, and a whole lot of punching for more than 140 issues. The court documents allege that Kirkman told Crabtree that it would be easier to market Invincible for film and TV production if it had a single creator. Rather than follow the same oral agreement as before, Kirkman allegedly tricked Crabtree into signing a "certificate of authorship" that described his contributions as "work-for-hire." It also listed Kirkman as the sole owner and creator of the Invincible property. Then at the 2005 San Diego Comic-Con, Crabtree said he was approached by Kirkman to put their agreement in writing. ![]()

Finding gobi book5/31/2023 ![]() ![]() Just incredible, I tell you! I do a bit of running (half marathons), but there’s no way I could even fathom a full marathon, let alone hundreds of miles in extreme temps. Astonishingly, those tiny legs kept up the pace with a trained elite athlete as they traversed the scorching desert’s rugged peaks and valleys. Like a cat with a mouse, he chased after those gators for miles upon miles upon miles. Out of all the super-human ultra runners camping out in the desert, Gobi only fixated one Dion, well technically he was more obsessed with the yellow gators wrapped around Dion’s shoes. It’s like they can see far into the future and just know they are home. ![]() I truly believe this because my CeeCeee was attached to my side the moment I scooped her up off the street. ![]() ![]() The moment the homeless little desert dog laid eyes on HIS HUMAN, he just knew he found his soul mate, his destiny. Now that we’ve got that settled, let me just say this book gave me everything I needed out of a dog/running memoir and more! This is such an incredible journey that show us all that instalove is a true phenomenon among dogs…humans, eh the verdict’s still out. Dog lovers, I know what you’re thinking, so I’m going to assure you that little Gobi is still alive and well with his family in Scotland. ![]() |
